Praying Mantis Sculpture v.1

Kornegay Fabrication’s project manager, Heather Dessel, has built two large-scale steel praying mantis sculptures for display at art festivals and local events. This one, the first, stands 10′ tall and is powder-coated steel with fabric to cover the abdomen. She used the CNC plasma cutter to design and cut out the arms, head, and body, which have LED strips inside to light the sculpture at night. ¬†Fabrication took three months and the sculpture can be seen near ASU campus in Tempe, Arizona.
